Part Seven:

That was two years ago. Since then things have only gotten better.
Business at the inn is booming. So much so that I went ahead and hired
Beth on full time. She’s very happy. By the way, she had a boy. Little
Christian Robert is just learning to talk. He calls us Auntie Manda and
Auntie Mel. Yes, Amanda and I are still together. She moved in about a
month after my mother’s wedding. We’re very happy together. Last year,
we had a commitment ceremony. All of our friends and family attended,
including my mother and Richard. After two years, they are still acting
like newlyweds. My mother brought a gift to the ceremony. The deed to
her house in Nantucket. After the honeymoon, they had decided to live
in Richard’s place in Cambridge. My mother loves it. Amanda and I have
decided to keep the house and use it as a vacation home. Property taxes
are a killer, but hey, it’s worth it. All in all, life couldn’t be any
better.
